Belén Rodríguez

Belén Rodríguez (Valladolid, Spain, 1981)

 

In 2010 Belén obtained a Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she studied with Professor Heimo Zobernig, and a degree in Fine Arts at UCM Madrid in 2007.

 

She has taken part in a number of artists-in-residence programmes, including Flora ars+natura, in Bogota, El Ranchito at Matadero Madrid and Artista x Artista, Havana in 2016, Hooper Projects in Los Angeles (USA) in 2015, Atelier Salzamt, in Linz 2015, Academia de España in Rome 2012, Hangar + GlogauAir en Berlín 2011 and BMUKK Tokyo in 2009.

 

Her solo exhibitions include ‘I turn Chilli Red’, Josh Lilley Gallery, London 2019, ‘Algodón naranja en la bella sombra’, Alarcón Criado Gallery, Seville, 2020, ‘Paintung’, Museo Patio Herreriano 2018, ‘"Rodríguez", in Galería Bacelos, Madrid 2016, After Sputnik’, Josh Lilley Gallery, London 2013; ‘Circa’, Das weisse Haus, Vienna 2011; and ‘XXXXX’, Parra & Romero Gallery, Madrid 2010.

 

Her Works have been shown in different institutions and museums like CA2M, Tabacalera, Matadero and La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Can Felipa and Fabra I Coats in Barcelona, Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada, CCA Kunsthalle and Casal Solleric in Mallorca, Korea Kulturhaus and das weisse Haus, in Viena, Museo di Villa Croce in Genoa, Mogosoaia Cultural Center in Bucarest, Yokohama Creative City Center in Yokohama and Concert Gebouw in Bruges among others.

 

She received the Staatstipendium and STARTstipendium from BMB Austria in 2015 and 2011, the Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert Award, in Palma de Mallorca, the Generation 2011 Prize and a Honourable Mention Generation 2009 Prize in 2009 both from Caja Madrid, and the Fundación Arte y Derecho grant, among other awards.

 

Her works are part of the Perez Museum Collection, Banco de España, Fundación Otazu, Flora ars + natura, Austrian Ministry of Culture, Obra social Caja Madrid, Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Spanish Royal Academy in Rome, CCA Kunsthalle Andratx, Calcografía Nacional, Fundación Pilar i Joan Miró de Mallorca, Casal Solleric, Spanish National Library and Canary Foundation for the Development of Painting, among others.

 

She is currently working for La Littorale, Biennale Internationale d'Art Contemporain d'Anglet, France with an open-air sculpture project related to the biodiversity of this area.
